Indian Head Massage

 Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage techniques have been practiced in India for over 1000 years and are part of the Ayurvedic tradition. This therapy has evolved from traditional family rituals of grooming where oils were massaged into the scalp. Indian Barbers developed a more stimulating technique and this was incorporated into their daily treatments and some of these techniques are now incorporated into the head massage.

What Should I Expect From A Treatment?

You will be asked details relating to your health, medical history, diet and lifestyle. Clients remain fully clothed and seated. It is advisable to wear garments without collars and to remove any jewellery particularly necklaces and earrings. The treatment concentrates on massage to the upper back, shoulders, neck scalp and face. Different massage techniques are used throughout the treatment and these vary between stimulating movements and soothing movements. A treatment usually lasts between 30 – 45 minutes.

What Are The Effects Of Indian Head Massage?

  • Increases blood flow to the head, neck and shoulders
  • Relaxes muscles and nerve fibres in the head, neck and shoulders
  • Decreases inflammation in the tissues
  • Helps to promote sleep
  • Increases the supply of oxygen to the brain

I came to see Sarah when to be honest I was in denial about where my life was. However, her loving and non-judgemental support helped to create a environment in which I felt safe enough to look at my issues.

I’m pleased to say that within 3 months I felt rejuvenated and life was so much better. I would encourage people to follow through on the various bits of homework Sarah provides as it’s all part of the healing. Thank you Sarah.

Terry, Cheltenham
